Methods Matter: The Case Against Aversive

With Dr Karen London

Do Methods Matter when you’re training a dog? Absolutely! Dr Karen London joins us to talk about the efficacy of Positive Reinforcement and the mounting scientific evidence that confirmed what behavior professionals have known all along, that Aversive Techniques can damage a dog’s well being inside and outside the training context.

Karen B. London, PhD is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, and an award-winning author of six books about canine training and behavior, including her most recent, “Treat Everyone Like a Dog: How a Dog Trainer’s World View Can Improve Your Life.” She blogs for TheBark.com and TheWildest.com, writes the animal column (The London Zoo) for the Arizona Daily Sun, and is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Arizona University.
